Learning music is about playing music. And playing music leads to performing. And because music is a communicative art, the job of a performing musician is to communicate with his or her audience, to play for the people.

Nice episode …I particularly like the “service” part at the end. I have come to feel that music starts with self love. Not in some narcissistic way but in a true love of what you are doing and being honest enough with yourself to understand what that means. That in itself is the start that provides the ability to play with a freeness of spirit that makes for an audience almost like a group meditation no matter how wild or sublime the sound waves are conveyed.
